The government has now announced sports events up to 50 persons are allowed, with a possibility to open up for a total of 200 persons after 15 June. This is very promising and good news, and means SMVE probably can be arranged the 20-21 June, depending on permissions and of course with adjustments according to the prevailing infection control rules. We are continuously following the development of the infection risk and the health authorities' recommendations in relation to sport events. SMVE is a relatively small race, that takes place outdoors with a good distance between the runners, and with a small audience, so in principle the risk of infection for participants/audience will be small. However, the virus is spreading rapidly, and the Norwegian authorities have on 12 March introduced the most radical measures since World War II. We sincerely hope that the race can be conducted, but this of course relies on that the situation is improving. The decision on whether the race can be arranged will be taken approx. 20 April.
